Commercial Solar
Solar is a commercial decision, not an emotional one
Small businesses in Queensland are paying some of the highest electricity rates in the country, with prices forecast to keep rising. A well-designed commercial solar system locks in a significantly lower generation cost for the next 25 years. That is not a green initiative. That is a business decision that makes straightforward financial sense.
If you own your premises or have a long-term lease, the numbers work in your favour quickly. Most commercial systems deliver a strong return on investment and pay for themselves within a few years. After that, you are generating power at a fraction of the retail rate for the life of the system.

Commercial solar in Townsville
Why commercial solar makes sense in North Queensland
Townsville’s combination of high solar irradiance and significant business air conditioning loads makes it one of the strongest commercial solar markets in Australia. Businesses running through the hottest parts of the day are consuming power at exactly the time their solar system is generating at peak output.
We have installed commercial solar systems for some of Townsville’s most recognisable businesses, including Toyota, Ironman 4×4, Cub Campers, Tent World and numerous childcare centres. Those installs represent thousands of dollars saved every month, year after year.
What to consider before investing
Common questions
Commercial solar questions, answered
How quickly will a commercial solar system pay for itself?
Most commercial systems we install in Townsville pay for themselves within a few years on a cash purchase. Finance options are structured to be cashflow positive from year one, meaning your savings exceed repayments.
Do you handle Ergon Energy grid connection for commercial systems?
Yes. We manage the full grid connection process with Ergon Energy, including metering upgrades if required. Commercial connections can involve additional steps compared to residential, and we handle all of it on your behalf.
Can we add battery storage to an existing commercial system?
In many cases, yes. We can assess your existing system and advise on compatible battery options. With government rebates currently available on eligible battery systems, it is worth getting this assessed even if you installed solar several years ago.
What if we are renting our premises?
A long-term lease can still work well for commercial solar, particularly with a PPA or finance arrangement. We will talk through your lease situation as part of the initial consultation to make sure the structure makes sense.
How much disruption will installation cause to our business?
We plan installations to minimise disruption. Most commercial installs involve a brief power interruption for final switchover. We work around your operating hours where possible and will agree on a schedule before work begins.
Is finance available for commercial solar?
Yes. We offer cash purchase, green finance loans and Power Purchase Agreements. Full details are on our commercial solar finance page. We can walk you through which option suits your business during the consultation.
