The GoodWe HCA G2 is the second-generation AC wallbox from GoodWe, released in 2026. It charges your electric vehicle from AC power and integrates natively with GoodWe inverters and battery systems through the SEMS platform. If you already have a GoodWe inverter or ESA battery, adding the HCA G2 means your solar, battery and EV charger are all visible and controllable in a single app without any additional monitoring hardware.

Solar surplus charging

When paired with a GoodWe inverter, the HCA G2 adjusts its charge rate to match available solar surplus. Instead of exporting excess solar to the grid at the current feed-in rate, it uses that energy to charge your car.

Smart phase switching

The G2 can switch between single-phase and three-phase charging to make the best use of available solar generation. When solar output is lower, it steps down to single-phase to maintain charging rather than stopping entirely.

Dynamic load balancing

New in the G2, dynamic load balancing monitors your home’s total power draw and reduces the charger output when other high-demand appliances are running. This prevents tripping the main breaker and means the charger can run safely alongside air conditioning, ovens and other heavy loads.

SEMS app monitoring and scheduling

Manage charging mode, scheduling and monitoring through the GoodWe SEMS app. Set the charger to run during off-peak tariff windows or solar-only periods, and view charging history alongside your solar and battery data in a single dashboard.

The charger is well built and GoodWe’s local Australian support team is well established through their inverter and battery business. But the shorter warranty period is a real difference from competing products and we would rather you know about it upfront than discover it later.
